What this covers
This explains what Kuwana collects about you, why, how long it's kept, and the rights you have over it under the Cyber and Data Protection Act [Chapter 12:07]. Kuwana is regulated in this area alongside POTRAZ, RBZ, and IPEC, depending on the sector a given comparison touches.
What Kuwana collects
- Account details — your email, a hashed (never plaintext) password, and your chosen username.
- Profile details you choose to add — age range, occupation, location. All optional.
- Comparison and usage activity — searches, comparisons, saved listings, chat messages, and XP/badge activity, so recommendations and your history work.
- Consent choices — whether you've opted into anonymized research use, the leaderboard, or health-data-informed comparisons, each tracked separately and changeable anytime in Settings.
- Payment activity — balance and transaction records for top-ups made through Paynow. Kuwana does not receive or store your card or mobile-money credentials — Paynow processes those directly.
- Signup address — the network address your account was created from, used only to spot abuse patterns (for example, many accounts created from one source in a short window).
How long it's kept
Your account and its activity are kept for as long as the account exists. A few things are kept for a bounded window and then removed automatically, not indefinitely:
- Email verification codes: deleted after 30 days.
- The signup address recorded at account creation: cleared after 180 days — the account itself is unaffected, only that address stops being retained.
Why Kuwana collects it
To run the comparison and recommendation engine, secure your account, process payments you initiate, and — only where you've separately opted in — improve recommendations, run the leaderboard, or inform healthcare comparisons. Kuwana does not sell your personal data to third parties.
Your rights
Under the Cyber and Data Protection Act [Chapter 12:07], you have the right to access, correct, and delete your personal data, object to how it's processed, withdraw any consent at any time, and lodge a complaint with POTRAZ. In practice on Kuwana:
- Access & correct — your profile details are editable from your account; contact support for anything else on record.
- Delete — Settings → Account → Delete account permanently removes your profile, comparisons, saved items, and activity, with one password confirmation.
- Withdraw consent — toggle any research, leaderboard, or health-data consent off anytime in Settings.
Security
Passwords are hashed, never stored in plain text. Camera, microphone, and location access are blocked unless a feature explicitly needs them. See Trust & transparency for the full set of security and accessibility commitments this platform holds itself to.
